Card rules

Faro Airport (FAO), Portugal

Verified conditional

Condition breakdown

Card rules are the most common reason a booking fails at the desk. The card normally has to be a physical credit card in the main driver's name with enough available limit.

Damage deposit
Depends on the selected product; check the offer line.
Fuel amount / hold
€70–€250 typical fuel amount depending on tank size and policy
Toll amount / charge
€100 Via Verde toll amount, held separately

The €100 Via Verde amount is a separate toll line. It is not the damage deposit and not the fuel amount, and it is settled against actual toll usage.

Card requirement
Physical credit card in the main driver's name. Debit, prepaid and virtual cards are frequently refused for holds.
Contractual liability
The main driver signs the contract and stays liable regardless of which card is presented.

What this means in practice

  • Embossing requirements still exist for some products; a card with the driver's name printed on it is the safe option.
  • Some zero-deposit products still require a valid card on file for fuel, tolls and traffic fines.
  • Confirm the accepted card list on the final voucher — it overrides general web copy.
